Using the latest build I get a black screen when I enable De-interlacing in OXMplayer. I am using cmyth to stream mpg2 cable channels... If I try and use DVD Player, all i get is a black screen with audio.

What's your gpu_mem? Try increasing it.

I have a 256 Meg PI... What should it be set to?

128M minimum, but if you are having problems try 144.
Using dvdplayer for 1080p is likely to be difficult on a 256M Pi as it requires more memory than omxplayer.
I do have an idea for reducing dvdplayer's memory requirement substantially, but that will take some time.
