Is the A9 much different thsn the A20?

Can someone point me in the direction of where I can find this information?

From the research I did, the A9 supported hardware accelerated video decoding where a bunch of other chips did not,

Check out this link and If i can find something more specific I will post it here or I suspect some of the good folks here may have that info handy.

I think your box uses the A7 - it seems the A20 is the model name maybe?

The Mali 400 listed on my box refers to the graphics capability. I'm not sure what you box uses.

Some info here.

Cortex-A9 is a type of ARM cpu.
A20 is a type of Allwinner system-on-chip (SOC). It has an ARM Cortex-A7 cpu.

Those are pear and apples. The type of ARM cpu does not influence (much) the playback quality. The SOC does.

Different kinds of "A"s. A20 is a specific product, and "A9" refers to some more general aspect of the chip design, or something like that. A lot of very different chips/brands can all be "A9", so that part really isn't useful/important. (more or less, as a basic explanation from someone who only kind of understands)

EDIT: or just see what Koying said.
