Your AVR tells, that it can only do 1080 interlaced formats - so it is a HD Ready TV?

Concerning the ratio - I don' want to force you to the 1080i mode ...

you can temporarily try yourself:

DISPLAY=:0 /usr/lib/xbmc/xbmc/xbmc-xrandr --output HDMI1 --mode 0xaa

Does this look better? (You won't be able to use it, cause it's only 30 hz)

To revert back to what you currently have:
DISPLAY=:0 /usr/lib/xbmc/xbmc/xbmc-xrandr --output HDMI1 --mode 0x46
First decide what functions / features you expect from a system. Then decide for the hardware. Don't waste your money on crap.
