If you have "adjust display refresh rate to match video framerate" then you should expect the video and audio to disappear at start and at end of video. That's down to how long your tv/receiver takes to change refresh rate. It's often a second or two.
If you change the default refresh in the GUI to match the most common framerate of videos (usually 23.97) then you avoid the reference rate change for most videos.
BTW your advancedsettings.xml file forces framerates of 23.97 to 24. You should remove that as the PI correctly handles 23.97 and 24 as distinct modes. It's only needed on platforms where this isn't handled correctly.
