Also, using the XBOX ONE media remote on OE, the xbox button does nothing. Can it be mapped to be the power button? I'm new to OE, so with it being very much 'done for you' its great out of the box experience but if you want/need to tinker you have to learn a bit more than regular XBMC/Kodi.

on the wiki, there is a script you can have run on resume from suspend. give that a try. I don't have an HDMI-capable receiver here to test with.

the way to fix it is for someone to fix the problem in (I believe) the Linux xHCI driver code; I don't see that happening anytime soon.
I have no idea if the PS3 BT adapter works - if you have one, try it. If you don't, I recommend buying something that's listed as known working on the wiki. we're only talking $25 here.

you haven't screwed anything up, promise. Now that you've flashed the custom firmware, the ChromeBox is just another PC. All you need to do is install a compatible OS from USB onto the internal HDD.
