can you be more specific, re: fails to install? I just downloaded it from sourceforge and installed here, no issues.

you're at the same point now with the ChromeBox as you would be with any other PC, you need to install the OS. Your current issues aren't specific to the box, and there's no reason to think it will end up a paper weight Smile

ok matt. i have just tried to install win32 again, and when you click Finnish on the setup wizard it open 2 boxes, one is readme notes, and the seecond says,
unable to execute file:
c:\process failed; code740.
the requested operation requires elevation.

Two quick questions (I have the HP Chromebox w/standalone OpenELEC):
  • For XBMC, for the box to do auto framerate switching (23.976, 24, etc.), I should enable "Adjust display refresh rate to match video" right?
  • I'm trying to enable Bluetooth so I can use my Harmony Ultimate, but under OpenELEC settings, it says "No Bluetooth adapters found". How does one enable? Is another piece of hardware necessary to use Bluetooth and Harmony Ultimate?

when you double click to run the installer, does windows present you with a UAC prompt to run it as administrator? if not, try right-clicking the installer and choose run as administrator.

yes. You have to turn on BT, it is off by default. See section 2.2.1 of the wiki.

as per my previous post above, "yes." I don't have GUI sounds enabled, plus I'm not using HDMI audio, so no clue about that.

ok matt. it would not do anything with a right click, but i downloaded again, and when i got to the end of the install wizard i unchecked the start up and message box. i went into programmes and managed to right click there and run as admin, so i now have win32 up, but when i click onto the folder button at the side of the address bar, and tell it to go to downloads, it doesnt find anything. i moved the folder to my desktop and it still does not find it. if i right click on the folder and go to properties it tell me the file size is 141mb, so it looks like its all there?

Searched but couldn't really find the answer:

I have a flirc and would like to get sleep/wake working. (Or at least sleep working as noted any key press wakes it up).

I see this in the wiki: "Flirc users need to set the "sleep detection" bit" - what exactly does that mean?

I have a harmony remote and I'm using the flirc xbmc profile. It works great for everything except it doesn't try to turn off the box when I hit the power down button on the remote.

What I understand I have to program a unused key as sleep and then map that into the shutdown/start-up process? Is there a cleaner way to do this?

Hi guys, I have a question regarding Asus Chromebox and Wake-on-lan via YATSE connected to OpenELEC.

I've set my OpenELEC up with via this tutorial
http://pricklytech.wordpress.com/2014/11...chrome-os/

I have Chromebox connected through LAN, YATSE works seemlessly but I am not able to wake suspended Chromebox via wake on lan. Yatse displays a message that it sent the signal. From your comments you sound like it should work out of the box.

Any ideas what could go wrong? Any test I can perform? (OpenELEC or even ChromeOS).

Thanks a lot!

// OK guys, I've finally found out (after week of trying Smile). I used to use RaspberryPI and just changed the IP address in Yatse once I brought in Chromebox. However Yatse also saved Raspberrys MAC address and sent WOL to wrong IP. Changed in Advanced tab of connection settings in Yatse and now working properly.

I used the MCE remote keymapper addon, simply mapped suspend function to the button I wanted. (XBOX One remote).

you have to unzip the OpenELEC download, it will have an .img extension and be around 350MB. Write that file to USB/SD using Win32diskimager

the sleep detection bit is an option in the Flirc software I believe, perhaps another Flirc user can help.

YATSE didn't send the packet to the wrong IP (because WOL packets are broadcast, and sent over a lower layer), it sent the WOL with the wrong MAC, because you didn't change it Smile

but that's really a discussion for the numerous existing OE/Kodi beta threads rather than this one, which is focused on setup/installation using the EZ setup script.

hi matt. success,Smile but a different way. i tried the disc image as you suggested, and when i unzip the disc image through 7 zip, it would only give the option of burn image to a disc. i deleted the file, and downloaded the the other generic x86 -64- version 4.2.1 instead. this was then unzipped with 7 zip and the file, create_ installstick (108kb), this was then double clicked and it starts an install wizard, once finished (about 1 minute) the stick was ejected.
the stick was then put into the chromebox and power up and escape within 5 seconds, selected the option for the stick and it loaded straight in.
i cant thank you enough for all your help, as im sure you have better things to do than puppy walking someone out of there depths.
