I attempted the OpenELEC/ChromeOS dual boot setup and ended up stuck at the "Booting from Hard Disk" issue I have read so much about. I ran the setup several times more with no luck.
At this point I should have jumped on here and asked some questions but I wanted to solve this on my own and didn't think I would ever use ChromeOS so I went ahead and tried the OpenELEC standalone setup.
After flashing the firmware and creating the OpenELEC installation USB stick I rebooted and was presented with the "ESC to boot from USB" prompt but the escape key didn't work and I ended up back at the "Boot from Hard Disk" message.
I rebooted hoping I would get the "ESC" prompt again but no luck I can only get to the "Boot from Hard Disk" message.
I can't seem to do anything at this point. I can only see the "Booting from..." message almost instantly after turning on the machine.
I think I bricked it. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Try another USB drive.
I had exactly the same experience as you. Initial 'ESC to boot from USB' but in my case I was late hitting ESC. And after that I was only getting 'Boot from Hard Disk' message. My keyboard was fine but the culprit was the USB thumb drive.. and it was a brand new recently bought 4gb drive. I had an 4yrs old 16gb OCZ USB drive so I downloaded the disk image from openelec's site onto it and lo and behold it finally showed the "ESC to boot from USB". So I suggest trying any other USB drive.
