I just purchased a Asus chrome box and installed openelec standalone on it. NIm using the official iPhone app to control the box, but I'm not able to use the wake on loan function. It works fine to use suspend, the it turns off. But when I'm using the wake on lan, nothing happens.

be sure that the MAC address of the ChromeBox is properly set in the iPhone app

MKVtoolNix gives me a GUI but I have zero clue what to do with it. I dick around trying to choose some good options eventually get lost...
Truthfully... it may actually be easier to build a hefty PC to run Kodi on then to try to workout this Chromebox/Vaapi bug that never dies. I'll have to buy a few bottles of patience though.
while I understand you are frustrated, you've give us no info to help you troubleshoot the issue. But since you are command-line averse, you might try using a GUI app for ffmpeg like http://sourceforge.net/projects/ffmpegyag/. Hot 'add task' to load the video file. Select 'MP4' as the format. Set the codec to 'copy' for both audio and video. Then hit 'encode.'
