Linux ChromeBox Kodi E-Z Setup Script (LibreELEC/Linux+Kodi) [2017/02/21]

The command above did indeed delete all files from /storage, without deleting the folder itself.
I didn't know that /storage was essential.

Long story short. It worked with the command above. I just didn't check if the folder was empty Confused

_thanks all!_

thanks for your work with that Firmware. But in moment there are an little issue with the lastet one 20150129 for my Asus Chromebox i3...

The Problem comes with my last Firmware Update from 20141202 to 20150129, at the same time i have made an OpenELEC Update (Plex Version)... now the BlueTooth WakeUp works... but when i do this my Chromebox are very noise for 1 minute or longer. The Fan an runs FullPower. Some Times it runs for minutes...

It this an Firmware Problem or an OpenELEC Problem?

Thanks
Lambada

Last I checked, the Plex version of OpenELEC is based on an ancient version of OpenELEC (3.2.4) using a much older kernel version which does not have full support for the ChromeBox's hardware. It's not a firmware issue, it's a kernel/driver issue.

What do you think? It is possible to update this Drivers/ Kernel @ 3.2.4 that it works good on my Chromebox?

no, that's not how OpenELEC works. Ideally, the Plex folks will re-base their OpenELEC derivative off OE 5.0, or at the very least 4.2.1. There's nothing that can be done to manually update anything in OpenELEC.

Mark from Plex means that: Plex using a newer kernel than the OpenELEC upstream build is, and we are using just as new drivers... He means i must work on xorg.conf to fix this...

Why not just use openelec 5.0.2?

huh? this has nothing to do with video output (xorg.conf). If they are using a newer kernel than OpenELEC 5.0.2 does (which is 3.17.7 I think), the 3.18 kernels have a completely new fan control routine and seems to be causing that behavior (high fan after resume) on several system, so that's the issue there.

because he wants to use Plex as his client I'd assume.

Because i am an Plex User... not Kodi... The handling with Kodi is nothing for me, some strange behavior to navigate with an Remote...

well, seeing as you're running an unofficial, Plex-created OpenELEC derivative that has nothing to do with Kodi, your best bet for support is from them, not here.

I will be honest I had no clue Plex had that option. I knew they had the Plex Home Theater software (which to me is like training wheels) but an Openelec build means they haven't completely given up the high-end to Kodi yet.

I have 2 rips of the same movie with slightly different rip settings, can anyone advise which parameter might be causing the frame skips on chromebox while wdtv plays both perfectly

Depending on some things like the resolution, "ref" is the first thing to test. The average bitrate is quite low so vbv buffering issues should not occur unless you are streaming over a slow connection.

The Intel HW decoder is L5.x capable, so it seems hard to believe that it has some settings incompatible with it if they use any sort of Level limit when encoding with x264.

I installed OpenELEC standalone, and would like to test KodiBuntu in a "Live" configuration. Is this possible? I tried booting off a USB image, but it hangs up on "Booting from USB...". I tried this with 2 USB drives.

If I decided to overwrite OpenELEC and install KodiBuntu, can I do this without reinstalling the stock firmware? The instructions on page 1 said that you can rerun the standalone setup, but how do you access the script without first booting into ChromeOS?
