Could you verify this works, and that it should work from Kodibuntu? I'm no stranger to messing around, but I just want to be 100% sure that I don't brick the Chromebox.
that's similar to what you'll need to do, but not the same. you don't need to restore the GBB, just the VPD. I'll PM you with instructions and update the wiki/OP with a note that user should always backup the firmware because of the embedded MAC.
