boot up OpenELEC with the Sony receiver connected, ssh in, and give me the output of 'dmesg | pastebinit' - that will tell if there's an issue with the receiver itself.

my initial reaction however is to wonder what functions you're not able to map / get working with the MCE extender (remote) profile vs the MCE keyboard profile. I'm using a Harmony One w/MCE extender profile and, and have a few unused MCE buttons custom mapped using the MCE keymap editor add-on. I actually find the MCE keyboard profile far more limiting.

I have shortcuts to a handful of things (specific add-ons, and some Kodi functions) setup in my keymap/Harmony software, using the function keys from the keyboard. I found it easier over the years to setup anything custom that I wanted with unused keyboard keys like F1 F2 etc, since there are quite a few of those.

This morning I tried using the Microsoft Windows Media Center SE profile in the Harmony software as opposed to the Media Center Extender profile, and while that didn't solve my problem of the remote not working at all with the Sony receiver, I did notice it has a lot more keys available that I could remap to Kodi functions, I'm going to try that one with the Ortek IR receiver too
