Gotham Scrapping Wrong
#1
Hi All,

After install of Gotham I saw the first artist in my list as something I did not recognize at all. I tried a reload (info -> reload) and it just keeps pulling the same wrong information. I have checked the tags with both id3v2 and easytag - nothing strange going on. Other music software shows the artist/album fine.

Debug Log: http://pastebin.com/ti8eqkR4

id3v2: http://pastebin.com/kejsZpUm

Per suggestion on irc I did id3v2 -2 on the mp3 file and that didn't resolve, I also stripped the comment from the file, no luck there.

The correct artist is Kanye West but it is pulling "2 CHAINZ"

The person on the IRC channel said that XBMC was acting like the file had a mbid tag - which it does not. Additionally, even if it does one of two things should happen:
(1) if there is a conflict between tagged artist and mbid - xbmc should assume that the tagged artist is correct
(2) if I manually go to "reload" it should give me a list of possible hits based on tagged artist - currently it just keeps giving me the wrong result. If I'm pushing "reload" it means that the hit is wrong and I need other choices.

Any help appreciated Smile

(1) why should it? You will explicit provide an MBID which is unique.

check id3v1 and any other possible tag (or provide the file for testing)

I did not add any mbid. I'm hesitant to share the file as I purchased it and would hate to be giving it away for free to the world. I might be willing to share it with an individual through private email if that will help diagnose what's going on.

easytag, kid3 and command line id3v2 all show info as fine, here is an image from kid3

As to your answer - well if it's this hard to find out what's going on - xbmc should have a fail safe that is much easier for a casual user (I'm not so casual but if I was, this would be ridiculously tedious to determine where a random tag is being pulled from). I did not manually edit this file at all - direct download from amazon.com and xbmc is scrapping wrong

Line 690 of log:

scraper: ResolveIDToUrl returned <url>http://musicbrainz.org/ws/2/artist/dff0d392-4cd5-4052-9fbb-f485df3891e5?inc=url-rels</url>

This suggests to me that file does have a MBID.

Btw can't see your image of kid3.

From kid3 front page:

Import from gnudb.org, TrackType.org, MusicBrainz, Discogs, Amazon and other sources of album data

Are sure it's not adding an MBID?

I just installed kid3 now - so I'm positive it didn't affect how xbmc is reading from the tag. I usually use EasyTag and all I do is set the genre and remove any junk from artist/album (such as "feat. blah blah" or [EXPLICIT])

I'm getting more and more confused Wink So the song (same song) is actually listed twice, one under 2CHAINZ and once under Kanye West (which is correct). Is there a way for me to get the file path of each of these? I want to verify that it's indeed the same file being played. What I know is when I'm playing the "2 CHAINZ" version and then navigate to Kanye West the song is red (as though it's being played).

Already tried clean library
