Right?

If you want it easy, cherry-pick the latest two commits of my master branch. Those install a patched ffmpeg version and have the commit by annsi picked on top.

Is the patch already implemented in the newest nightly builds? If not when will it be?
Thanks.

Thanks.

it will only be included if it's included in ffmpeg (the library we use for audio/video playback)

It has been picked and is now included in OpenELEC master.

FFmpeg 2.4.1 was released, which does not include that patchset.

We will only pick it, when it is going into the 2.4 ffmpeg branch. OpenELEC has the manpower (:-)) to maintain some hundred out of tree patches, but we (xbmc upstream) don't want to do that - though the final decision was not yet done (neither nacked nor acked) - we will give that ffmpeg patch a bit of time and will see when Kodi gets out of alpha stage.

for me personally this would be a much smaller issue if MakeMKV could strip out the atmos bits. here's hoping!

Why ripping something out - that you might need some years later?

as a practice i've only been grabbing the main movie, audio and commentary (when available) from my blurays. Transformers Age of Extinction is coming in about a week and I won't be able to enjoy TrueHD unless I throw the physical disc into my PS3.

my understanding is that without patched FFmpeg and an updated XBMC build i can't bitstream audio tracks containing atmos.

I just compiled a new devel OpenELEC build which should contain these patches for those who are interested.

I have not tested it yet as I'm not home - use at own risk and let me know how it goes, I'll be upgrading and testing as soon as I get home

OK tested the build above and samples with Atmos are bit streaming fine as TrueHD 7.1

Thanks devs!
