That's what I meant.

Gotcha!

Right now is just about the right time to be stocking up then. Buy Buy Buy!

Then Sell later at an inflated price!

Muahahahahaha!
I just got an HD tv last nite and am having trouble using XMBC in hd. I can go into the MS dash and enable any of the settings 1080i, 720, 480 etc, XBOX works fine. But when I launch XMBC it hangs using any of the HD enabled. Even when I turn on Widescreen. Its hard modded. I DL the latest build of XMBC same problem. Any ideas?

I just got my Big Ben HD AV pack (the one with the pass through) and hooked it up, and the picture is perfect. I no longer see the diagonal purple lines that were present with the "BOX" adapter I got. Consoleplus is still selling these Big Ben units on ebay UK at this link. Now all I have to do is open it up and solder in an RCA connector for coax digital audio.

Or use a coaxial/optical converter like this:

I have one, works like a charm when needed.

Cheers.

Actually, the coax audio mod is extremely easy to implement. I just open up the case of the AV pack (3-4 screws), drill a 1/4" inch hole in the bottom of it, and install a panel mount RCA jack. I then run a wire from the ground of the optical board to the ground of the RCA jack, and a 330 ohm resistor from the signal pin of the optical board to the center conductor of the RCA. That's it, and it works like a charm. It takes about 10 minutes, and costs less than a $1 US (maybe a little more if you don't have a soldering iron).

I've done it to three av packs so far (MS S-video version, "BOX" HD adapter, and now the Big Ben Interactive HD).

Very nice. You should put up a little "How To" with pics and details.

Cheers.

Since you asked, here it is. I originally got the info on doing this from this page by Matt Staroscik. The only thing I do differently is that I put a 330 ohm resistor between the signal and center conductor of the RCA. The resistor isn't necessary, but it is my opinion (as an electrical engineer) that this makes it more robust. I also used some heat shrink tubing on this one to make it cleaner, but this is not necessary. I didn't use any on the last one I did.

Note that every optical module I have seen has the exact same pinout. If you are looking at the bottom of it with the optical port at the top, the left pin is the signal and the right pin is the ground. Note that these pins I am referring to are the pins connected to the optical device itself, not the wires that connect the board to the XBOX. My picture is of a generic "BOX" HD AV pack, but the other HD AV packs all look similar inside.

Happy modding!

Great stuff!

Got myself a weird little problem. I have HD 720p tv running component cables and when i boot up the xbox no problem x3 mod screen shows and goes to the dashboard, menus and will play games also no problem. However whenever i launch XBMC my screen either goes blank saying "no signal" or the picture is black with some interference lines randomly showing up. I am familiar with HD and how it works with regard to TV's, however not so much with the xbox. Hoping this is just some setting i am overlooking, if any one has a suggestion please let me know. Love to see the beauty of HD.
Did you set up 720p in the MS dashboard? If you've done that, I'm not sure what might be going on. Which XBMC build are you using?
Yes sorry about the information, again not too sure what im doing with the xbox, but the current XBMC is 1.0.1. I havent updated evox or anything for prolly two years and not too sure if thats why im having and if it is i can update whatever necessary but again not too sure how to go about this if someone knows.
I got this cable: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Konig-Xbox-Digit...B000IBF074

Didnt realise there was a mode switch on it, so struggled for a bit. This is set up the cable and swaps from component to svid or whatever Smile

Works fine, not top top quality, but much better than scart Smile
I have managed to update the XBMC however now a new problem arises. Now i am using the build: 2.0.1 compiled Nov 12, 2006. If their is still a newer one just let me know so i can get it loaded. Anyway the new problem results wiht the cable i use. With the new build installed everything loads and works fine on the regular A/V cables however when i swith to use the component with optical port i will see the X3 boot screen however after that i see nothing but image my tv's supposed to have when no inputs their. Im sure this is because of my settings and regard to your earlier question i do have 720p turned on through x3 confige screen u can access by rebooting and holding the white button. I actually have 720p and 420p and 1080i all enabled is this causing the problem having more than one resolution selected. If someone again can help me with this would appreciate it.

I have the X3 with a dashboard version of +3935, and XBMC build is now 2.0.1

Essentially im trying to use these component with optical to get HD and 5.1 sound but cant seem to get it to work, please help a noob.
