I'm running into the same issue. Will the next version of XbmcBuntu be updated to support these resolutions?

For now you guys will need to include those modelines yourself in the xorg.conf by following
Configuring resolution via xorg.conf (wiki) for how to do this and adapting that to the 4K modelines/validation
After searching some-more I found
https://devtalk.nvidia.com/default/topic...-screens-/ and
https://devtalk.nvidia.com/default/topic...tx-650-ti/
That's 3 modes right there with the validation changes required to get them to work.
Haven't found any info on 60Hz modes for 4k yet and I wont be looking anymore as I dont have a 4k tv to test I also suspect not many developers do either. So you guys need to test this anyway.

Supposedly FULL HEVC decode and HDMI 2.0 arrives with the Geforce 960 in a few weeks time. No idea if Linux support will be made available on release day.

ffmpeg has no code for the hwaccel of hevc, nor does libvdpau ...
First decide what functions / features you expect from a system. Then decide for the hardware. Don't waste your money on crap.
