All I had to do was put libwidevinecdm.so and libwidevinecdmadapter.so from the Chrome install in /usr/lib/chromium-browser/ and I am able to watch Netflix video. But I still have the same problem I did with Chrome, it didn't solve anything. Video and audio will start jerking after about a minute and after a few minutes the playback just freezes altogether. I suspect the jerks happen when it changes the video quality and it ultimately stops when it reaches 720 or 1080? Is there something I have to do enable hardware acceleration or maybe this isn't a hardware acceleration problem at all? I have a Radeon HD 6310.
Btw you could try to press ctrl+alt+shift+s , and you should get a popup that lets you manually choose the netflix bitrate. A bitrate of 1750 corresponds to the old maximum (480p). If this works, then it's definately that your cpu is too weak to display 720p without gpu accel.
