I recently upgrade to a Surface Pro 2 and now I am having trouble adjusting the volume of XBMC.
In the past I was able to use the following fix: http://forum.kodi.tv/showthread.php?tid=127340
Unfortunately that code has no effect on my 13.2 Gotham installation on my Surface Pro 2. Further complicating things I have setup XBMC to output to the Surface Pro 2 speakers instead of to the default output device. The surface has better speakers. Now the default output device according to Windows will be the hdmi connected TV. Therefore currently my remote has 0 effect on my volume levels.
The only way I can now control the sound is by using a keyboard with +/- or pausing a video and going to the sound options. Any suggestions?

OS: WIn 8.1 (previously Win 7 x64)
XBMC: 13.2 Gotham (same as before)
Sound: Surface Pro 2 speakers
Display: HDMI connected TV
