v14 Infrequent video stutter
#1
Win 7 32bit SP1
3gb RAM
Xeon 3210. Basically a C2Q Q6400
Geforce 210

All media files played locally. SD all the way up to 1080p have the same issue.

Every 10 minutes or so the video will freeze for a second, then speed up to catch up with audio.

This has been a problem for me since Kodi 14.0. I never had an issue with 13.2 and no hardware changed between the upgrade. I continued upgrading to 14.1 and currently 14.2 b2 hoping it would be fixed but the issue is still there. I have also tried uninstalling and deleting the Kodi folder in my AppData to get a fully clean install but still have the issue.

Only addon I have is the keymap editor.

Below is what is in the log file when it happens. The bottom entry CPullupCorrection is one of the times the video would freeze. I believe CPullupCorrection appears each time I get the video freeze.

Code:
20:27:25 T:4140   DEBUG: CPullupCorrection: detected pattern of length 1: 41708.33, frameduration: 41708.333333
20:27:44 T:3528   DEBUG: CDVDClock::Discontinuity - CDVDPlayerAudio::HandleSyncError2 - was:2028919324.829480, should be:2028909289.041514, error:-10035.787966

20:34:07 T:4140   DEBUG: CPullupCorrection: detected pattern of length 1: 41708.33, frameduration: 41708.333333
20:39:39 T:3528   DEBUG: CDVDClock::Discontinuity - CDVDPlayerAudio::HandleSyncError2 - was:2744370640.788447, should be:2744360601.979409, error:-10038.809038
20:42:32 T:4140   DEBUG: CPullupCorrection: detected pattern of length 1: 41708.33, frameduration: 41708.333333
above is when freeze happens

EDIT: New pastebin since old one expired after a month Full log file

I found this bug report that may reference the same issue, but it is so old and was never resolved. http://trac.kodi.tv/ticket/9320

Can you try with render set as software

Same issue with software render, but it seemed to be less, maybe just my imagination.

Below was in the log at a freeze, so it may be CDVDClock:Big Griniscontinuity

Code:
21:26:04 T:4576   DEBUG: Previous line repeats 1 times.
21:26:04 T:4576   DEBUG: CDVDClock::Discontinuity - CDVDPlayerAudio::HandleSyncError2 - was:2634423092.545650, should be:2634413039.670449, error:-10052.875201

I have installed 13.2 and watched a couple hours with no glitches, definitely something with 14+

Can you post one of your debug logs?

Well at least someone else is having the same issue as me. Did you try uninstalling kodi and remove settings then reinstall 13.2 and see if it fixes the issue like it did for me?

Hi,

No - I figured that it would be fixed by returning to 13.2 and seeing your post I thought i'd stay on 14 and try to help out by troubleshooting the issue (as I have time at the moment). I'm over at http://forum.kodi.tv/showthread.php?tid=220671&page=2 if you want to follow the discussion.

I am not sure we have the same cause for our issue. Your log appears to stutter very frequently, where mine happens much less frequently. Hopefully we can both get our issues resolved.

I am more than happy to install 14+ if I get someone who is interested in fixing the issue, otherwise I will stay at 13.2 since it works properly and does everything I need.

I thought I'd take the plunge this weekend to upgrade my Gotham 13.2 to Helix 14.2 and I ran into the exact same issue as you.

I tried everything - enabling / disabling passthrough audio, software - hardware decoding, with/without playback sync, matching vsync and whatever other combination of these settings I could possibly think of. No matter, exact same problem. Every couple minutes the CDVDClock:Big Griniscontinuity happens and it winds up dropping 10 or so frames, which is rather noticable.

Exited Kodi, ran Gotham from my Backup, smooth playback all the way through, no drops, no skips, same hardware, same OS, same Movie, same everything.

This is definitely a problem with Kodi 14.x. I've reverted back to Gotham 13.2 for the time being.

Good to know someone else has the issue. I have a bug open but not much action on it. http://trac.kodi.tv/ticket/15885

This thread has been open over a month so I am not holding my breath. At this time 13.2 does everything I need so I just forgot about it.

15 and 13.2 installed side by side. Just like you perfect playback with gotham and skips on 14+. Same video same everything

Thanks for opening that ticket. My system is based on a quadcore Intel Haswell i5 4200M with 8GB of RAM and AMD R9 M270X Graphics module, so it's probably not related to hardware either.

Maybe DSPlayer (http://forum.kodi.tv/showthread.php?tid=223175) provides an upgrade path that is working; I am considering trying it out sometime just to see if it behaves any different.
