You can batch truncate/rename file names through krojamSoft: BatchRenameFiles program.

Yeah, a combination of FileBot, Ant Renamer, tinyMediaManager, and batch files.

Just so TheRenamer (wiki) doesn't get left behind, it is drag & drop easy, creates the folders (with date) and renames all associated files according to the meta-database, while keeping the extension. Makes fast work of messy collections, then create an extras folder for different resolutions and extras inside the target folder.

I've used it but found FileBot scripting more useful for me.

Maybe I searched the wrong places but the sites I tried to go to for had Chrome advising me that the sites weren't safe.
