Access the Audio Settings menu during playback, and enable the subtitles checkbox. Save for all videos.
Also, check PGS subtitles and the correct language in the LAV Splitter. You might also have an issue with the subtitle selection mode (do not select forced in LAV or XySubFilter if this is the incorrect mode).
