You can use the spline36 scaler with the "official" kodi that is pretty good and natural looking.
You can create a pull request to add nnedi3, debanding and other things into the new kodi videoplayer.
As a happy dsplayer user I am not against including dsplayer in kodi for windows.
But I understand the kodi dev team that wants a cross-platform solution.
Yes, I do know about pixel shaders, but they don't use an anti-ringing filter. Just plugging new scaling algorithms into DVDPlayer would be nice, but wouldn't offer the same experience. The whole architecture would still need an overhaul to get the same result as madVR.
I don't think this debate needs to turn nasty; DSPlayer users are as big a supporter of Kodi as a platform as anyone. But, open dialog about aracnoz's work shouldn't be put to the side without some talk about what he has done. It is good, reliable software from someone who is passionate about Kodi and who has put a lot of work into it. What is wrong with some recognition if not some official support?
Putting an entry on the official blog would be nice. Or giving DSPlayer its own forum from the main tree are examples of support that would help increase awareness of this project.
