I just saw this thread about DSPlayer for the first time. As I use Windows I thought about trying out, but does it make sense (with regard to Kodi Krypton):

There wont be further development of DSPlayer in the future? Will there be an alternative?

I wouldn't say won't. The issue is the last developer the project had has left and no one has stepped up to continue his work. A major overhaul is needed as Kodi v17 has a completely new Video player which will be an effort to integrate DirectShow support into. If another developer steps up to the plate then we'll be good to go.

Yes there is an alternate solution stick with plain old Kodi or you can try to integrate a 3rd party external player that supports Madvr (MPC-HC) with Kodi
