What kind of file are you playing? This sticks out in your debug log:

08:59:40 T:16328 ERROR: CFGLoader::LoadFilterRules Extension "mpls" not found. Please check mediasconfig.xml

Please list your settings.

Are you using Internal filters? Have these filters been configured? Have you installed madVR correctly? Does madVR work with MPC-HC?

these are .iso bluray rips.

MadVR does work with MPC

DSPlayer doesn't support Blu-ray ISO's. You are better off directing these files to MPC-HC. DSPlayer plays most anything else.

First of all thanks to Warner306, ashlar and hannes69 for the many tips about Dsplayer and in particular to the Clock Deviation, with your advices I've been able to improve my configuration. Said this there are still some weird things...

1) I set Dsplayer setting to do not manage anything but just load the settings from MPHC and madvr (Manage settings with kodi = Never). After I made the test and calculation you suggested I modified the Custom Resolution, now it give a repeated frame every x hours (don't remeber how many...but lots of them) while before it was like every 15 minutes. The problem is that if I start a movie directly via MPHC it starts with 0 frames repeated and 0 dropped, while the same movie via Kodi and Dsplayer start with 32/33 dropped frame and 1 repeated. All of them. WHY?
I set Dsplayer to use "Media rules and Filters configuration" and it correctly loads the right filters, in few words should be a perfect link to MPHC.

2) I noticed that in case of upscaling the OSD (ctrl+J) indicates the right chroma shader but in image it list the one in double luma resolution, while in MPHC indicate the right one. I'll make an example...

SETTING: Chroma= Super-XBR , Image= Lanzcnos 3 taps, Double Luma Resolution = Super-XBR.
OSD Dsplayer: Chroma= Super-XBR / Image = Super-XBR
OSD MPHC: Chroma= Super-XBR / Image = Lanzcnos

I am sure (because I tested) that if I change the Double Luma Res to something else it will show that one... So it's really indicating the wrong thing.

3) Still have my old problem: the ability to move the subs in the black bars only works with xysubfilter 3.1.0.745 with 746 or 747 it doesn't work. Don't know why and what I am losing not using the last versions...but WHY?

Last thing @Warner306 I am using Sanear and I selected Exclusive Mode and Allow bitstreaming, and in the list above the icon - I think are the renderer - I have selected my AVR, everything looks fine. Correct?

Thanks for the link ...

After another, and probably last, bunch of tests, I found that my laptop totally hates madVR ... I tested from 0.88.10 up to 0.90.20 and all of them gave me the same reactions of DSPlayer ... Getting picture flickering and lot of dropped frames ... I swiched to EVR and VMR, and no problems at all, but no improvements, like the ones on madVR ...

My laptop is HP ProBook 450G3, Core i7 6500U, 8Go RAM, Hybrid Intel HD.Radeon R7 M340 with 2Gb dedicated RAM ... I can't understand why I'm getting those problems as it seems that the laptop is not so bad, except its screen that does not seem to allow any other refresh rate than 60Hz ...

Currently, I'll stay with Kodi DSPlayer but with EVR (or VMR) as the renderer ...

If you have any idea, feel free to send me a PM or to reply here ..

If I understand you right you are talking about dropped/repeated frames directly at the movie start. You don´t get drops/repeats during the movie playback.
If that is like that then I see no problem. This is due to maybe queue filling, starting procedures, buffering... I always have >10 dropped/repeated frames when using MPCHC with madvr. Then no drops/repeats during daysBig Grin
I´ll consider this "cosmetic". It doesn´t matter what´s happening the first 2 seconds in playing back a movie I think.
If I didn´t understand your problem correct me.

Hannes,

You perfectly got it! But why playing it directly with MPHC it starts correctly with 0 dropped? Mah... I also tried to play with CPU\GPU queue... Looks like it doesn't influence it.
BTW about " 2 seconds"...how many secs you set in Kofi config to adjust the playback refresh rate? :-)

Any comment about point n.2 Hannes?

A bit more to add to my tests ...

I looked at those infos as I discovered that even after a fresh Win7 install, I still have the problem on file #1 underDSPlayer but also with MPC-HC ...

Do you think it is normal, or at least logical, that madVR doesn't like the first file Huh

Try these settings. Your GPU is probably too weak for more aggressive settings:
  • Chroma: Bicubic100 + AR
  • Image: Lanczos3 + AR
  • Image doubling: Off
  • Upscaling refinement: Off
  • Artifact removal - Debanding: Off
  • Artifact removal - Deringing: Off
  • Image enhancements: Off
  • Dithering: Ordered

I'm pretty sure this is a bug with DSPlayer. I get a bunch of dropped frames at the start of playback...and then nothing. MPC-HC does not drop any frames.

This is something you will have to live with when using DSPlayer. You can't expect perfection...unless another developer steps forward.

Thanks for that, i'll try that ... Can it also come from that this laptop has an hybrid Graphics equipment ?

Glad the guide has helped you. From what you describe it served its purpose (going from 15 minutes to lots of hours). Unfortunately the frames dropped at the beginning of playback can't be avoided with DSPlayer, as far as I know. They have nothing to do with your refresh rate and video/audio clocks. They're just a byproduct of playback start with DSPlayer.
For troubleshooting and bug reporting please make sure you read this first (usually it's enough to follow instructions in the second post).

I found a good source for sample profiles for different graphic cards (at the end of 1st post): http://emby.media/community/index.php?/t...-hd-audio/

Might be handy if you want to squeeze out the best quality of one's setup.

Really interesting find, bollstedt. I'm curious of what Warner306 will think of his suggestions.

Edit: the first thing I notice is that the guy discounts super-xbr, which together with SuperRes seems a *really* nice way of getting the most out of your GPU as far as quality/performance ratio is concerned.

That guide is good, really good, but is not updated since January and if I use those setting with my GTX960 when I upscale ...yes can manage it but the GPU fan will go crazy...and super noisy!
Warner306 guide is as good as that, maybe even more detailed and I think more updated, but is just my opinion.
