Kodi DSPlayer – DirectShow Player for Windows
Thanks a lot again! Yes I am using madvr settings from an older version! I will start with a clean sheet and try as you said!

Thanks for the motivation :-)

I did indeed test a lot last evening, using frame rate render time to find the madvr settings that give acceptable values (35ms or lower).. I was able to get smooth playback of H265 content now, but only when I set image upscaling to DXVA2, anything else will cause render time higher to much higher then acceptable (>42ms). See screenshots for madvr settings that work with acceptable frame render times. I do not understand why image upscaling settings make a difference anyhow on 2160p content since it does not need to be upscaled. Can someone explain me why this is?

Is it normal for a GTX1070 that it can smoothly render hevc only when setting image upscaling to dxva2?

Rather than using profiles in Madvr, use Dsplayer to set profiles through its own database (did you set those profiles up with an earlier version of madvr? if so,it might be trying to upscale/supersample 4k content. Goto dsplayer, system settings, player, scroll down to dsplayer, and select manage madvr with load and save with dsplayer database,Then play a 4k clip/movie, press M and gto into the scaling settings on screen whilst the clip is playing and chose your profile and save per resoultion (sd, 720p, 1080p and 2160p).

Still the same thing unfortunatly...

I was thinking, my display (JVC X5000) uses e-shift technology, this means it does accept 4K input , but the native panel resolution is 1080P. The nvidia driver does list the 4K resolutions but is says "native" at the 1080P resolution, maybe this has something to do with it (downscaling, the upscaling again maybe, although madvr stats do not show this)?

I also checked with gpu-z, GPU is not throttling its running at max clock speed.

Hi @tingtong5,

Unless I'm misreading it, the picture of your projector seems to show some wonky scaling going on (possibly causing your increased load).

3840x2160 is the resolution of the video? It seems to be cramming it into a smaller space. Also, if it's 4k material and you can output at 3840x2160 then no upscaling of luma should be happening. I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong here.. Tongue

Some ideas..

try setting 2160p23 in "display modes" in madVR and start playback
try disabling crispen edges while you're debugging

Thanks for this BTW, been running it for a few weeks without any obvious issues Smile

@tingtong yes, i agree only1hammy. It seems something is wrong with output. In my example the movie is scaled from 1280,718 to 1920,1017.
In your example something different happens. I guess this is causing so much load.
If you unsure go to the doom9 forum and ask in the madVR thread. The developer of madVR and the power users can answer your question. I hope it's ok to link to another forum https://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?t=146228

Yes, 3840x2160 is the resolution of the video.

I do have "crop black bars" enabled in the madvr zoom settings. Maybe this is causing the issue?! The reason I have this enabled is to always get correct aspect ratio so my madvr rule to automatically change between zoom memories will work (which is not that important to me).

I will test this and I am already posting in doom9 forum, although about a slightly different issue (downscaling 4K to 1080p). ;-)

Thanks so far guys! :-)

My installation of DSPlayer (17.1RC1) is working so well, I'm almost afraid to ask a question in case I jinx it. LOL!

I've noticed that when I FF in a video the audio doesn't mute until I get the speed up to 8X. Regular VideoPlayer doesn't do this. (Tested both over and over with the same videos.) Is this due to a setting somewhere?

I finally managed to solve my video performance issues :-)

1. By disabling zoom reduce ringing artifacts in MadVR -> processing -> artifact removal.
2. By disabling crispen edges in MadVR -> processing -> image enhancements and enabling it instead in upscaling refinement settings only.
3. By disabling zoom small black bars away in MadVR -> processing -> zoom control.

Making these 3 changes results in significant performance boost whic translates in much lower average frame rendering times :-)

With madVR v0.91.8 now out in the wild, has anyone managed to get the dsplayer madvr settings repo to update yet?

I know I had the same issue last time, so wanted to check.

I'm trying to get FFDShowRaw to only be active when "{Animation}" or "{SVP}" is in the filenames so that SVP can start to interpolate and increase the frame rates.

I check @aracnoz respository on Github and he hasn't pushed any updates to it yet. So it's on his end

Maybe but I highly doubt we'll really get it on there as Lav Filters, Madvr are all extra installs. Well LAV comes packaged with DSPlayer but Madvr doesn't

Took a quick look, and its now been updated: https://github.com/aracnoz/repository.dsplayer

@ aracnoz, many thanks.
