had a look at what Brazen has done and its mostly for 3d playback which i dont do. and my playerfactor works perfect on test partition upstairs which is set up exactly the same as downstairs setup.

i'm going to do more playing tonight and i'm beginning to suspect that the nvidia driver application sitting in the taskbar is causing the problems.

i will try turning off the nvidia driver application at startup.
i will try installing 'drivers only' instead of the application install.
