I didn't say it wouldn't be updated?  I stated afaik, the developer who created it abandoned it. 

 aracnoz has so far been kind enough to update DSPlayer for all major releases, even after he stopped actively developing it.
Whether this is going to happen for 18 is unknown. Surely he won't update it with alpha or beta releases. But maybe we can at least hope for the final release.
