I think you are confusing this with DXVA2 image upscaling, which bypasses madVR processing.
The issues with native decoding surrounded DXVA2 Native, not D3D11, which is brand new. The recommendation for years was to use copy-back because of the issues with DXVA2 Native and CUVID. D3D11 has added a second decoding option. The problem was the video was not be decoded properly in all circumstances. D3D11 should be the default setting for hardware acceleration for any new hardware.
