ok, I've had similar issues myself, black screen but I no longer have. We need to track down exactly where it happens, trust me, it wont be random. Is your projector 4k or 1080p?

i'll cover exclusive and windowed mode when I know how you are connecting.

 yup i would like to know how mkohman has his hardware "chain" connected as well.

 No Problem.. This is the chain.. My Projector is JVC x5900 it is a 4K projector, I use 3840x2160p 60hz for my desktop .. RX560 4GB HDMI out -----> Into Anthem AVM60 HDMI INPUT 1, Anthem AVM60 Output 1  HDMI out -----> Into JVC x5900

I use Fullscreen mode in Kodi and I have never used windowed screen .. I do not know if this may be the cause..
