Too often people use forums only to look for solutions to their problems and never come back to tell others how they solved those problems.Ah, maybe I should be more terse about my findings:
So thank you, bravo, etc.
- either DSPlayer or Sanear will downmix multichannel LPCM into stereo if it finds that the connected device does not support multichannel LPCM, even if you disabled the mixer in the settings. I'm not sure if this is a bug or a feature.
- people who have a receiver which only supports DTS and Dolby Digital, can either use Reclock to encode to AC3 on-the-fly or use the "unlocked Realtek HD drivers" to enable Dolby Digital Live and/or DTS Connect. This allows for other formats like DD+, Dolby TrueHD and AAC to be transcoded and passed as multichannel DTS/DD instead of downmixed stereo PCM.
