With that said I was wondering if you could tell me how you have yours set up. I am on a 40' FHD vizio display and would love to get the optimal setting, which I have a great deal thanks to your other suggestions for player setup and so on. I wouldn’t expect many or any new features. madshi sunk a lot of time trying to make 4K HDR projector owners happy by improving madVR’s tone mapping. Hopefully, he takes some time off that and gets back to the long list of things that are supposed to be added.
I configured the tone mapping myself on an SDR display. I can’t see many flat panel display owners wanting to watch HDR content at SDR brightness, so this could be reserved for projector owners. It also took a huge amount of tweaking to make it look right. I am still adjusting to watching content without a gamma curve to make it brighter. You have to like the movie theater 2.40 gamma look. I finally managed to get the image to look like it would if it was tone mapped by an actual HDR display.
