It has to be converted to Dolby Digital. TrueHD is a completely different compression codec/wrapper. It would have to be converted to multichannel PCM and then converted into DD. Some compression is involved. DTS-HD has a DTS core for backwards compatibility, but TrueHD does not.
I’ll do a search tomorrow for a filter that could do the job. Sanear doesn’t have this capability. FFDShow could do it, but it is old.
Did you check to see if Kodi is simply selecting an alternate DD track when TrueHD is encountered?
