Kodi DSPlayer – DirectShow Player for Windows
alright peeps, yes its me again.. lol

i'll be looking into getting a new graphics card in the near future so open to suggestions on what working flawlessly these days or are we still having trouble with them all?

i'm still using what i was the last time i posted and it been pretty good with the odd "reducing to small box" problem but its rare.

the problem i'm having is lip sync on some 4k movies but not all. something that has struck me is the age of the drive i use as a "swap drive" is influencing the "copy". if i use a newish drive it seems to be fine but if i use and older drive it sometimes causes lip sync. yes its a strange one.

all the problems are 4k all being ripped 1-1 MKV.

I don't know how it does with 4K, but Intel Internal has been the most trouble free for me.  Does perfect 23.976 unlike the Nvidia and no need for Reclock and can bitstream without issue.

All cards have some issues right now, mainly due to windows 10, it really depends what you want from the card.

to play SD (dvd) to 4kHDR (br) ripped 1-1 (own the discs) MKV at decent Q for dvd. at the moment i have a 1050ti that is doing ok but fancy a change like say a 4g rx570 as they are right down in price at the mo.

i dont do 3d.

you'd be better off with an RX 580, you could pick one up used for less than £150 right now, they have about the same grunt as a 1060.

I currently use an RX 580, they can get noisy though so bear that in mind, even though all cards get noisy when pushed. I've recently dropped my MADVr settings a bit so my card doesnt go over 60 degrees so it stays completely silent.

who has the most stable drivers AMD or Nvidia?

i know that Nvidia keep releasing drivers like every friggn week as they cant get them right so how about AMD, same?

If the card was going to be used with madVR, Nvidia offers far greater performance. And, no, the RX 580 is about twice as loud as most GTX 1060s or GTX 1050 Tis. It is a hot and noisy card. That is why it is cheaper. Not all of us can hear the fan when the GPU is pushed.

As for drivers, they both have issues. Probably no winner there.

unless mpc-be has decent hdr switching then yes i'll be using madvr.

my plan was to take the 1050ti out the main box down the stair and use it in a new one in  a bedroom system then get a better card for the main box.

the main box is pretty stable with only the occasional glitch which i can live with but if upgrading the card in the main box was going to give better more stable performance then i would do it but by the sounds of it i'm not going to gain that much so i can get a lesser card or same for the bedroom system.

unless anyone has better thoughts?

most reviews put the 1060 vs 580  noise levels very similar with 580 beating it on one or two on amandtech. I guess it depends on your card version but twice as loud at full load is an enormous exaggeration.

I hope this is the right place to post my problem.  If not, I apologize in advance.  Problem: When I play a movie file that has PCM 5.1 audio (MKV files ripped from Blu-ray discs that contain PCM audio), I get absolutely no sound and my A/V receiver only shows it is receiving a PCM 2.0 signal.  All my other movies that are encoded with Dolby, DTS, Dolby TrueHD, DTS-HD, Dolby Atmos, etc play sound perfectly.  Any idea why PCM audio doesn't workHuh  What settings might I have set up wrong?

If it helps, here is my setup:  I have Kodi DSPlayer on a Win10 machine with an 8th Gen i5 processor, a GTX1080 GPU, etc.  The GPU's HDMI Out is connected to my Yamaha Avantage RX-A2070, which is then connected by HDMI to my 4K TV.  All of my movies are ripped from my Blu-ray discs and UHD Blu-ray discs into MKV containers.

Thanks for any help you can offer!

You're right, they are similar. Depends on the card. The ones at the bottom of each list are particularly noisy.

Nvidia GeForce GTX 1060 3GB and 6GB All Models: Noise Test

AMD Radeon RX 570 & RX 580 All Models: Noise Test

Nvidia GeForce GTX 1050 & GTX 1050 Ti All Models: Noise Test

Did you run the Windows sound settings wizard and configure it for surround sound output?

No, haven't run that wizard.  Didn't realize that Windows sound settings were used; I thought all the sound settings that mattered were the ones in DSPlayer/Kodi/MADVR?  How do I run the wizard and set the correct Windows settings?  Will it negatively impact my other sound settings (Dolby, DTS, Dolby TrueHD, DTS-HD, Dolby Atmos) that are all working perfectly?

This is basic setup for sound in Windows. It won't impact any of the bitstreamed formats: https://appuals.com/how-to-configure-and...indows-10/

Completed that sound setup, but still no sound when Kodi DSPlayer plays MKV files encoded with only PCM audio.  Any other ideas on things I should try?
