The LAVFilter configuration linked above looks promising, will experiment with it and report back if successful 

With current LAV Filters you don't need to hack anything. Say you want to use 2GB of RAM for buffer, set it like this:



Here I'm using MPC-HC to test but you can clearly see that it's using all the memory I'm asking it to use for buffer.
