Hi, what are the advantages of running a hacked version of KODI DS as portable external player in stock KODI over just using any other player like MPC-HC / BE?

You got it. Streamlined for media center where MPC is made for a mouse and the UI looks jank, has no scraper info or any nice way of displaying any options from a couch. It's good for mouse use on a screen close by, but I, personally, don't wanna use it in a media center setup.

It's a good player though, of course.

If the DSplayer thing ends up working it'll be great. Otherwise I'll stick to Krypton DS. The Kodi integration in DSplayer is too good to give up. Personally, again, of course. ^^
