Does anynone know if Asrock Braswell like N3150-itx or N3700 works with DTS-HD and TrueHD in Kodi in Windows 8.1?

The old baytrail didn't work on windows. I think it was a limitation with the CPU.

Thanks in advance.

Isn't it only the tablet Z-series Baytrails that currently have the HD Audio limitation? ISTR that for a long time the Windows drivers for N2820 and similar BayTrail CPUs didn't support HD Audio bitstreaming (though PCM multichannel was supported allowing on-device decode). However there have been driver releases since that DO support HD Audio bitstreaming in Windows on the N2820 and similar Baytrails : https://communities.intel.com/message/263590#263590

I don't know.
I didn't bought a J1900/J2900 board because this issue.

I need to run Windows. Because i have other apps running in the HTPC.
So it would be nice if someone can confirm if Braswell is ok with audio passtrough in Windows.

(After the ffmpeg / vaapi is implemented those should work without issue).

PS: stunning video btw.

Found a 1080p HEVC main10 sample on the thread xda-developers: MX Player 10-bit Video and HEVC Discussion. Care to try it?

It seems Anandtech is testing the Beebox:

Should use my latest build from vaapi thread...

Just nudged him towards that direction, thanks.

doesn't sound to promising for 4k

there's simply no way the Beebox is 4K ready. The N3000's results were comparable to desktop Braswell boards thanks to the Beebox's dual-channel memory and at best it can handle high bitrate 1080p Blu-ray content.

We couldn't get the advertised 4K playback to run smoothly and high-bit rate 1080p seems to be the limit. The power button on our review unit would often get stuck turn the PC off

That's plain wrong ... N3150 plays 4k@60p h264 without issues - tested here: http://www.technikaffe.de/anleitung-311-...or_im_test

hardware.fr Wrote:We verified that the decoding was functional in MPC-HC, you must first enable hardware decoding in the LAV filters the options. We were able to decode without problem two test files, including a 4K file with a rate of 17 Mb / s ( about Elecard 4K video Tomsk, part 3 ) keeping the CPU load on the platform lower than 10%. Not bad for without activation accelerated decoding, the same file is simply unreadable, saturating the processor and 100% jerking of a second every two seconds!

The translation is not amazing but hardware.fr was able to play HEVC 4K@30Hz in MPC-HC when hardware acceleration is used on both the ASRock N3150-ITX and N3700-ITX, with minimal CPU usage.

that is based upon Intel NUC rather than ASRock Beebox but sounds very promising

I'm hoping these Braswell boxes can play 4k no problem, don't want to fork out extra for i3 model.

It's based on the ASRock N3150-ITX (and N3700-ITX) which has very similar specs to the ASRock Beebox (and are made by the same company).

EDIT: note there is no Braswell support yet in Linux for hardware decoding HEVC.
