Added UPC Ireland and Saorview to the spreadsheet, not sure if it'll be needed but hey it can't hurt

I got them from here http://www.tvchannellists.com/ maybe you could just import their channel lists directly?

I've added them to the database now:

Thanks, I added Spanish Terrestrial where at moment I have some reasonable/poor quality up to date png files which I "sourced" from following site/page.

Not sure best way to go about creating quality of icons required with valid size/dimensions, but if someone can point me in right direction using free software (i.e. gimp) I will have a go and then upload them if i am successful. Blush

I just followed this tutorial using GIMP which can be downloaded for free Wink

Its actually as simple as creating a path around the logo, scaling the path to fill a 800x450 layer, filling it in with the gradient fill tool and then adding a drop shadow. If you break it down, its actually only a few steps. It takes a few tries to get it right though Wink

Glad to see the number of logos growing, and growing and growing. I'm now looking into grouping all the repeated portuguese channels, I'll pm a document with everything explained.

While trying to grab the servicereference for lyngsat channels, tilleke found out that some channels didn't match my script's regex pattern. As a consequence a few channels are missing on the database. @zag How do you want us to send you this data? We can perhaps create another table on a sql or mysql file containing only the channels that are missing?

Unfortunately we haven't heard any ideas for addons yet. I'll probably open another thread on the pvr section to hear from users/how logos work on the different frontends.

Cheers

As for logos I'm mostly using inkscape. The logos are often quite simple so a simple "trace bitmap" will vectorize a png file:

Other cases do exist when you have to manually draw the logo:

@zag is it possible to provide a way of renaming a channel and, if the name matches another one on the database, to assume it is the same? The work needed to fix the channels with "strange" characters is probably too much

@enen92:
as to the encoding-problem of channel names, I am looking to improve my extraction from Lyngsat and see if I can get them right. If in my final extraction I get those right, we can simply pass on to @zag a list/table with correct channel-name and the Lyngsat channel url-link and he can run a query update on the database.

Yes just add any broken channels to a new column on the spreadsheet and I will rename.

It seems the channels got cut off if they had a special character. It particularly affects Portuguese.

@zag, I'm trying to do a "tvlogo downloader" similar to artwork downloader for the database since no one has taken the step to build any addon now and also because it is really small. Can you add the following method to the api of the webpage?:

1) Get all countries that have channels available. This would allow me to grab the $c variable to pass to http://www.thelogodb.com/api/json/v1/1/t...hp?c=Italy

Many thanks in advance

Many thanks in advance

I was going to do the same thing (logo downloader plugin)... but there are a number of limitations that kept this from being as simple an addon as it should be.
For example, there is no way to automatically trigger Kodis scan for missing icons... at least I couldn't find a method...

I specifically asked you some time ago if you were doing something generic or just for Pseudo TV live..I recall you said it was only for PTVL. Despite building a "common framework" for anyone to use on their addons. My interpretation of it was that you're building a python module for the api of thelogodb.
I am not really a big fan of working on stuff others are also working like if it was a competition. That being said, if you have something working and want to proceed, let me know and I'll stop my current work on this.

As for loading channels that really depends on the backend you're using. For now I was only doing a downloader, then I was thinking on focusing in post processing of the downloaded data. I believe that restarting the pvr database would load any missing logos.
