Android Nvidia Shield Android TV (Updated Jan 26 2017 - 5.0 update)
(2016-01-30, 17:41)gully53 Wrote: Hello,

I hope this is the right forum/thread to post in. My wife and I just got a Nvidia Shield TV - have been users of a Boxee Box for several years. TV Shows and movies stored on a number of networked harddrives (mostly D-Link DNS-320, 321 and 323's)..............

Try using NFS instead, ideally as it has less overhead and quicker read speeds you should always use this when possible, and it seems you can with the D-Links.

I have a problem with tying to setup my smb share (from my qnap nas) on ES File Explorer, I simply just can't, but when doing it inside Kodi I can.

Having same problem. In general network is an issue in AndroidTV. No problem inside Kodi.

Btw...what is the easiest/best way to push apk file to the SATV? Using USB stick is kind of a pain and ES File Explorer is crap (can't mount SMB/NFS).

Use a USB stick, stop being lazy.

So just because you think that is the best way to push and apk file I should accept that as the defacto standard? Lot's of progress that would make in the world...

It takes 5 seconds to download the apk, 5 seconds to load up, 15 seconds to walk to where my SHIELD is and you're moaning about dragging something onto a USB? Christ.

Calm down guys. Tone, intensity, etc, are all hard to read over the forum.

Wow...that was helpful. Oh well, if you need a tip for an easy transfer.

Supposedly this is a way to do it, but I can't get it to work as of yet. I have a computer standing close to the SATV. Connect a microUSB to the SATV and USB to the computer. Then you can transfer everything you need very easy.

ES file explorer is the easiest way, IMO. Can't mount but it can browse SMB/NFS just fine. I always just drop builds I'm going to test, repos, addon zips, etc into my server/downloads/software folder and navigate to it through ES. It's a lot less steps if you take passwords off your LAN shares

I use an app called X-Plore to moves files back and forth from my (windows) server. It's 1000% better than ES if only because it's functional with just a remote.

I used this:

Worked like a charm Smile

BTW: Has anyone been able to map Kodi keys to their Harmony remote and get it working on SATV?
