Hi,

I use xbmc for over 10 years now, first on the old xbox, now for about 5 years on a HTPC with a atom CPU.

I would like to get a second box, is the android kodi version the same as the linux binarys?


I have to decide if i get a firetv/chrome or one of these chromebox with intel CPU where I can installe openelec.

It should be the solutions with not much hacking needed.
Later i would like to setup a system for some friends.

You will have definitely less issues runig openelec on a chromebox regarding auto refresh and sound output.
Basically evrything works out of the box.
IMHO, Android isn't mature yet for being use as a mediaplayer.
Now if you don't care about those issues, an Android box could do it.
But seing the price of a chromebox right now, i don't see the point to go the android way EXCEPT if you want to use it for other things : web browsing comes to my mind, even if you can install chromium under openelec.

Edit: of course there is also the installing part, but Matt Devo's script do it for you in 20 minutes.
You also need a screwdriver though ;-)
