Has the size of the Madnox skin been reduced, or still a big download? Really want to try this, but previously it was well over 500mb in size

madnox will always be a BIG SKIN ... if we reduce our own icons and features to get a small size it wouldnt be MADNOX anymore ... it will be smaller one day... but not THAT small

What kind of laptop doesn't have 500ish MB? That's like a music CD. A Vanilla Ice or MC Hammer music CD circa 1991.
Delete like...Internet Checkers or Minesweeper...Netscape. Empty Recycle Bin.
I had a computer once that was 500MB, and it came with a dialup Internet CD Rom and you had to type http:// manually. You also had to say the words "CD ROM," not CD. A 1GB flash drive is $2, maybe? Or free from anyone. Anyone in the world will give you one from their electronics drawer. Because we're all tech hoarders and can't throw away a flash drive. You can trick Madnox out with whatever colors you want. The panels and backgrounds and shading and lighting and walls and whatever. Just hit up the system settings and general skin settings. Also each main page view gives you an assortment of adjustment options, some wall related as well. In some cases, you can change addon colors as well. Get crafty!

I don't mind editing files, but I've never done it before and I know nothing about skinning, but if someone could just tell me how do it I would be forever grateful.

What is it that you're wanting it to do? You could just make custom playlists and save them as main buttons or submenu buttons or widgets. If it's in Confluence, you should be able to get it to view in Madnox with a little work.

Some questions for Mr. V and BobCratchett: are you guys far enough along to want testers for Mr. V's widget work which is being incorporated into Aeon Nox? If so, is it only a matter of switching to the skinshortcuts-dev branch of MadNox and using the templates branch of skin.shortcuts from Bob's GitHub? Please let me know. I wish I could provide coding skills to help out, but all I can provide is testing time.

@bsoriano - I'll put out some caveats. If, having read them, you want to test you are more than welcome

(1) The script.skinshortcuts/templates branch that is required has a lot of changes - not only specific for MadNox/skinshortcuts-dev (which still need thorough testing to ensure they're stable) but it's based on the 'script.skinshortcuts/UX' branch which introduces some pretty large changes which still haven't been tested in the wild yet. Or to put it another way - there is a good chance of this branch of the script having bugs.

(2) The branch of MadNox has a lot of changes - Mr. V is basically recoding huge portions of the widgets - and it is not complete. Just have a read of the To-Do List to get an idea of what there is still to do, and take note of some of the items on it. For example, Widget 2 doesn't work at all right now.

(3) You'll need to keep up-to-date - feedback is welcome, but things change quickly so if you're reporting a bug you're going to need at least to have tested against the latest MadNox/skinshortcuts-dev branch and (depending on bugs being found in it) the latest script.skinshortcuts/template branch too. And bear in mind that bugs will be prioritised by the people fixing them, and its likely that getting the core stuff working will have greater appeal

(4) Not that this will affect you, but I'm sure it will others reading this: as ever we're not going to be giving support on installing/using these test builds/test scripts. If you can't manage that without help, you really shouldn't be using these builds

So, if I haven't put you off yet, I look forward to your feedback

Bob, thanks! Understand completely and will make sure not to report anything that is not done yet as per the To-do list (which I have read and will continue to read), and will only report a bug once I have tested against the latest code.

I already switched to the relevant branches and will start testing this afternoon.

I have a request ;
the Function of creating a queueing list AND maybe use it as a Widget . Example ... the movies I want to see in a particular order, or the eisodes I want to see next Queued up and presented on as a widget and could then be directly played from home screen.
One could kind of do ( Queueing but nil other functionality ) this on confluence but otherwise no where else ?
Would make life soo much easier ..

Whadawesay? We say one solution would be a basic playlist (possibly combined with the Playlist Append add-on) to create your list, and use it as a widget with the MadNox/skinshortcuts branch.

It does require the latest git version of script.skinshortcuts, though, as there is a bug in the repo version meaning basic playlists can't be selected. (Or the templates branch has, I think, the fix too).

Indeed the Context menu Add to Playlist is working brilliantly and I am then able to add as a widget no problem... heh heh A great Solution to a bygone problem ! Now What Other kind of Playlists should I be making next ! hmmmm......

Ive been using the new..ish version of madnox with the skin shortcuts. Using windows 10 PC and wow. now problems as such that i can think off.
Looked back at a few pages and people mentioned the size of the build. Now that Jarvis will be out soon and the way skins have changed for it then the build will be smaller. For instance, genre icons, weather icons, Music icons can now be downloaded in Kodi so no need for them to be packaged up in the build.

I could be wrong, please correct me if i am.

Im happy with the widgets so far. Cant wait to see what's next with them. Skin shortcuts script is so damn awesome. i made my build in about 20minutes, usually took me 2hrs!!

One thing i want to ask, its a bit of a general kodi question. In settings and then video theres an option to turn something on, make all movies show as movie sets, or something similar to that (at work at moment so trying to remember it) would anyone recommend this to be turned on for this skin. Any benefits to it at all?

While you may be correct that it is possible to remove all those images from the skin for jarvis onwards, what you don't realize is that I will have to spend days/weeks going through the entire skin updating it as the new resources solution requires modifications to work! It is not a simple remove from skin and then just download from repo. Right now this isn't going to happen as there is more important work going on.

If you haven't switched on 'group as movies sets' then perhaps Madnox is not the skin for you as it has lots of stuff for movie sets but you are not even grouping them so you may not even have any unless you've used a media manage on your library? So even if you switch it on, then you have to have movies assigned to movieset and then lots more config to get them set up the best way

I'd recommed you look at this post and the section 'How to activate SHOWCASE MOD and Open Cases' to give you an insight to what happens in Madnox once you active 'group in movie sets'

1. madnox will be still a heavy weight skin - the only thing we can use maybe one day are the default studio and weather icons... but we want to be a bit unique so, well at least for me, we leave our genre icons,backrounds and all other things... but we will clean up madnox after we finished this actual HUGE project with skinshortcuts and Mr.V widgets ...

2. if you want to use movie sets you should activate this option - and one option can deactivate this set, if you just have one movie in it ( wouldnt make any sense if you click on the set image and there is just one movie inside this set )

and yes... the skinshortcut script is awesome - in combination with Mr.Vs widgets its EPIC
