Quick question. Why on some movies (i.e. The Gift) is there only poster and landscape available for art in info---download art manually ?

Cool that the weather is getting some love. The icons are now there if you download the new myweather.xml. Map don't work, but I think you know that.

Found something else (sorry!).

With addons, notably the youtube addon, or ones I think are derived from it like the reddit addon, Madnox seems to think the thumbnail is fan art. If you switch to fanart list, it sort of works like other addons, showing the thumbnail frame on the right with a list. That works, great.

Problem is it doesn't save the setting. Next page, or next time you come back, or if you press stop instead of letting a stream stop itself, Madnox reverts to that list view with the thumb or random fanart as the b/g.

(I double checked confluence/others don't do that.)

because of this map thing... i think our team wont spend too much time right now on adding this map feature... maybe in the future, when the more important things are done

I was trying to compliment, thank and also point out a problem with video addons derived from youtube. I think it all got rolled into "map thing."

So, on the map thing, I agree, not very important, not everyone likes to be a weatherman from the couch. I like it, and I can switch to a skin that supports it (default confluence included) with a few clicks. I hate broken stuff though (and explaining them to other users of my home theater), so maybe you should take out the link to the maps. Just a suggestion.

I'll do another post about the video addon views later I think, with screen shots. That's a much bigger deal to me. Addons that I really use often just don't work right with the views problem.

@P_Jamula Yes, you can centralize the animated gifs. I use a network share for the animated gifs. But you can't use an UNC path. Maybe it's a bug or it's the gifs itself. I don't know. If you use an UNC path to store the gifs, the gif is displayed but you have no animation. So you have to store the animated gifs local or substitute a drive letter.

e.g. You store your gifs at \\servername\animatedgifs you need to map this UNC path to a local drive at your HTPC e.g. local letter G: --> \\servername\animatedgifs
If you add the gifs in Kodi now, point to g:\animated_gif_name.gif.

On your other instances of Kodi make sure you have a path substitution of G: --> \\servername\animatedgifs too. So the Kodi database points always to the same point no matter which Kodi instance do you use.
In my case it's working on 2 machines.

This is down to what is in the external sources i.e. fanart.tv and themoviedb or where artwork downloader looks for the art, I have movies with poster / fanart only and then all differenty combinations of artowrk on other movies. Artwork need to be submitted to those websites to become available to AD in kodi.

Think I'm actually looking into this now and may have it fixed. I believe what you mean is the right hand image is a square and doesn't display correctly when say viewing videos. I've changed it to display a rectangle thumb type image now for videos., will do a bit more testing and then push to GIT, this is for the List view only at this time as that's all I'm aware of?

Thanks Andy... but I am a bit confused....
"If you add the gifs in Kodi now, point to g:\animated_gif_name.gif". ...... the skin adds the gif's automatically in a folder within the thumbnails folder... I do not know how to just do a path substitution for the animated gif's and let the skin know that this where this sub folder of thumbnails is located elsewhere...
sorry but am not too knowledgeable in these technical matters...perhaps if you could spare the time for a step by step instructions...
also animated gifs are a sub folder within the thumbnails folder...and I read in the KODI wiki that it is not wise to share the thumbnails folder between various KODI instances via path substitution.

Hey, guys. I have a request regarding the TV Schedule that's powered by the TV Shows - Next Aired add-on. I'm not sure if this request should be directed to the Madnox team or the creator of the add-on itself.

I use Layout 1 with Logos enabled. If a show doesn't have a logo, then nothing is displayed in that space. Is there any way you could add fallback text in that area like the KodiFlix view offers in the library?

Yep list view, and that sounds like you are on the money. Except I should note it's also a little weird pulling random video fan art behind the list (which you can't seem to turn off).

Other views are sort of workarounds but they have quirks on video addons too, and the settings don't seem to save. (Doesn't matter if list view has it handled I suppose).

mike added a option to use Animated Gifs in the general Skin settings, if you turn it on skinHelper Addon will search for Gifs in a DB and use them, nothing you need to do by you self.

if you want to add animated posters / backgrounds then please see this thread.. Rschiks has created a database to house them and with the help of Marcel, the skin helper add-on accesses this DB. There is only around 500 images in total at the moment, but it's constantly being added too.

If I manually add the GIF's for the movies in my collection to this folder will they be automatically displayed or do they have to be added by the skin?? this is as from where I am the internet is very slow and it's faster to use batch downloads for stuff.

I have 4 instances of KODI running in my house using the SQL setup with the SQL database and media all on a NAS using different sizes of TV's. Since all the animated GIF's would be the same size for all instances (I assume), would it not be more space efficient (for the future) to have these GIF's in one central folder/database which can be shared by all instances? I am sure as time goes by this collection will really grow in size.

Currently the animated GIF is only showing up on the right side of the screen in the list option. it does not show up in the showcase layout. is this a WIP for all options??

Hi, yup did a quick solution to the sat maps, nothing fancy for first version but it seems to work, will upgrade it possibly when I have the time. The List fix should be in GIT as well.

Hi Kevin, No you are in the right place as Next Aired has been skinned into Madnox so it is something I'll need to look at, those views for next aired have never changed as far as I know.

Hi,

The /animatedgifs folder in thumbnails is specific to the skin helper process for when it grabs the gifs from rchiks DB or check to see if it already exists. Yes, I think you can actually add directly to /animatedgifs but you would have to name you gif like the others i.e. starting with tt and the the imdb number for the film and the the following info. I think it would need the correct filename to be found by skin helper.

Please get the latest Madnox from the GIT as animatedgifs are in a lot of views including showcase, but only for the focused item at the moment, haven't looked at doing all the non-focused items yet. But yes this is something that will always probably be WIP, I introduced a 1st version for animatedgifs, so there will probably be other versions and so on.

@meowmoo that is the brand new update to SPMC has something changed over the previous versions? cause i couldn't get this skin to work with the old versions and gave up. is anyone running SPMC with this skin successfully? if so not sure what i could be doing wrong

EDIT - just tried it on the new version on a blank system with skin shortcuts installed. loads correctly when changing skin and then when you close the app and try to open it again black screen same as before. I can't get it to work.

Did anyone found a solution? Have same problem on my shield? Can't get it working...
