Mike, would it be a hard task to create an option to disable that black border, i don't mind the colored overlay for the selected movie as it's clearly states the focused movie.
I disabled them by myself (panel and panel2.png) and i also tried without the overlay but this last one is really needed if the poster focused doesn't expand or else.
I could try to create this option (removing the black borders), but without the actual knowledge to do it properly it would takes forever and probably clash with your way to do it :-(

Already did it this afternoon, will be in the next update.
