i have tested now 1hr in a row - played music in backround while i configure my madnox like before ( complete with widgets etc ! ) music viz turned on - well i think i activate all eyecandy stuff madnox have hehe

freezes = ZERO !!!!

so it looks realy good atm... but i saw pigs flying before... so give us time until this evening before we push something ... and i want a final green light from mikeS

Hello everyone,

First I'd like to thank Mr Silvo and Mr Cratchett for their time and for it seems a solution to the freeze issue when attempting to use our old out dated skin in Jarvis.

Also, of course to Schimi for driving himself a little bit more mad in trying to find the issue.

I haven't been able to help that much this week as I'm away due to work commitments this week, so thank you to everyone involved in hopefully resolving this main Jarvis issue.

MikeS & Bob, I would fully like to update the skin to shortcuts and also update the widgets to use marcels skin helper widget solution but when I attempt to understand how widgets work in current Madnox code, then how to integrate both shortcuts and skin.helper then I honestly start to believe I just don't have the skills as I never seem to fully understand the readmes for the new stuff or how widgets actually work in Madnox etc .etc. I will attempt it again over Christmas when I have some vacation.

Please note, this does not mean I wish someone else would come in and do all this, I have to learn these new sides of skins if Madnox is to continue, I'm just stating that I'm having trouble learning it that's all. I would not expect MikeS or anyone else to do a job as big as that on Madnox ever.

I always knew I took on too much by picking up the torch on keeping NOX 4.1.9.9 / Warlion / Shednox alive but I'll always try to do what I can when I can to give Madnox a chance of still be around in future versions of Kodi.

for now madnox is running so smooth like never before ( at least for now and for me atm )

Looks like you've really been pulling your hair out with MadNox lately. But I'm so glad that the root cause of your freezing issues now seems to have been isolated and that the skin can continue to live on hopefully

Okay, so I came across a small quirk/bug in the EPG screen while working on the PVR Mod I've been doing for MadNox. I noticed that when a programme is recording, whilst the record icon is displayed on the programme item in the EPG, the programme title disappears. To be honest, I first thought it was something I may have broken myself with some of changes I've made, but when I installed a clean install of MadNox with none of the changes I've made, it still did the same thing......Grrrrrr! lol

Anyway, it's been driving me nuts trying work out why it was behaving this way, but after a fair bit head scratching and spitting blood at times, I've now sussed out the cause and got a fix The problem was even more frustrating, because after fixing this issue I soon discovered that the programme title for items that were set to record on timer suddenly disappeared, which it didn't do beforehand. But I've also fixed that issue too

I know in the greater scheme of things, it wasn't a huge issue, probably more of a mild irritation on my part, but it was one those final nagging issues I wanted to resolve. Maybe you hadn't even noticed this behaviour before?

after BobCratchett is crosschecked this problem and after i test it the whole day now on 2 player... with

ZERO FREEZES !!!!!

i would say... the freezing problem is solved ( knock 3x on wood )
and i dont read other posts with freezing problems here

i pushed mikesilvos changes to mike ( incl. the 2 new studio icons from neurosis - thx to that too ) and some other small changes

so when mike is merging it you can download it and report back if you have still freezing problems ... but i hope not

I normally keep PMs disabled, but for an avatar I've enabled it (we'll see hot it goes keeping it enabled ) though I honestly didn't expect anything other than solving an interesting problem - I can never resist the interesting ones!

(I'm going to say this quietly because you definitely deserve a break, but you know that just removing the AlarmClocks - or at least the ones with a corresponding CancelAlarm's - means some things, most likely automatically scrolling widgets, maybe delayed-appearing info dialogs, that sort of things, will stop working without a workaround, right...?)

@Mike_Doc/@schimi2k - I didn't realise you guys took this challenge on because you wanted to learn skinning. That doubles how impressed I am - there's far easier skins to cut your teeth on that this. Huge kudos to you and everyone else who contributes.

If you do want to look at integrating Skin Shortcuts in the future can I give you two pieces of advice? (1) Take it step by step - it's a complicated script with a lot of options, and its easy to get overwhelmed. (2) When you have questions, please ask

Thanks schimi2k. I will wait until your pull request has been merged in GitHub and then update MadNox on my HTPC to test again. I am really happy for the prospect of using it under Jarvis!

well, from what i hear, its not 100% jarvis final prepared ... but without the freezes and my longer test now, i would say - should work for now

after my short break, and when mike and meow are comming back, we will try our best to make madnox 100% jarvis compatible ( like some new features of jarvis )


but i realy need a break from this coding stuff ( when you come from a graphic part with photoshop, and work so much with this boring coding... its not so easy ^^ )

i will check a bit more on weekend i guess - until then i realy hope that we wont find any other huge problem(s)
