I am not sure the reason but MadNox suffers from an empty VAR issue fairly often however I have added some of the VARS that "go empty" to my custom_debug_overlay xml as a label and they continue to populate (did notice some of the color codes changing from uppercase to lowercase so add that to the mystery) so I think we probably need to streamline some of the skin code. We must be hitting some kind of "max" so there are VARs appearing empty because of it, but I am just guessing here.

I have had some success changing colordiffuse tags to attributes inside the texture tag but there are other instances like the posters for DialogVideoInfo that have me scratching my head as to what the f**k is going on...

Assuming this PR is related (and my belief - without actually understanding the underlying code - is that ultimately they're the same issue, or at least the same cause), there may finally be some movement on this...
