are you using this sort of image as a poster ? - https://images-na.ssl-images-amazon.com/...L1500_.jpg
this has a spine and a blu ray border around it - no wonder it looks odd - it doesn't have the same aspect ratios as the tmdb or fanart.tv therefore it doesnt fit correctly

use a proper borderless poster and it will fit correctly (look at the tmdb or fanart.tv for borderless posters)
