Those Patches from fritsch should do the trick for v17, and they are used in the mentioned PPA.

So will we be able to get 4K HEVC HDR @60 with Apollo now ? Big Grin

Also does Apollo support 4K VP9 Playback ?
Reply
Kodi has no HDR support, playback of 4k HEVC is possible since December, so nothing new here.
According to vainfo Apollo Lake Graphics seem to support 4K VP9 with 8bit only.

The last one is an ffmpeg patch. Without that you need ffmpeg 3.2 or higher.
First decide what functions / features you expect from a system. Then decide for the hardware. Don't waste your money on crap.

@ Fritsch, thanks for your efforts, just a quick question, as I haven't been following the threads for a while, all the recent changes to HEVC codes, would this make any diff to Haswell or it won't?

Thanks

No. Haswell has no hevc support _at_all on linux. The GPU supported glibberish for 8 bit is windows only and works only for 1080p24 hevc files.

Hi

I have Apollo Lake Intel NUC [6CAYS] [J3455]. It has LSPCon. In windows I am able to get 4K @ 60Hz. But in Linux this is not working. Only 4K@30Hz is working. Any help here ?

Thank you.

Using the very same chip on a J4250 - works perfectly. The Apollo Lake thread in the Hardware forum has some Modelines.

Edit: Try libreelec first. To my knowledge this is all fixed with a new enough kernel and no manual config is needed. Milhouse provide 4.12-rc3 based versions.

Hi Fritsch

I have tested with Libreelec - LibreELEC-Generic.x86_64-9.0-Milhouse-20170605220232-#0605x-gc6a4377
Still same. I am not able to get 4K@60Hz. Kernel is 4.11.3. Can you please let me know where I can get Libreelec based on 4.12 ?

Meanwhile I will try out the modelines and get back. Thank you.

"Kernel is 4.11.3" are you sure about that - can you upload your kodi.log? Build #0605x is based on 4.12-rc4 kernel.
