I'd have been able to answer my own question by just looking at the pull request; sorry to trouble you!

Edit: Got everything up and running on 18.04 but I have one question; what happened to the kodi-screensavers-* packages?  I was looking to install greynetic but it seems like these packages aren't present in the release ppa anymore?
