Linux Is Kodi uPnP safe

Question
I would like to have my iphone and droidpads access my media library to watch/listen and also I would like to be able to play content from my iphone and droidpads to my kodi machine. I see that the option to enable for this is under system>services>UPnP/DLNA which brings me to a question: does UPnP present a security concern? The US Department of Homeland Security has recommended that UPnP should be disabled on routers.

Kodi isn't designed for security. Some passwords are stored in plain text, MIM is possible as well...so yes...it might be unsecure. But I think a very huge bunch of ppl are using uPnP fine and don't care if Homeland Security or any other secret service would have a "look" what they stream to their devices Wink

UPNP is not meant to be used _outside_ of your own LAN
