And the upstream / downstream thingy also applies to forks. The project where the fork forked from is always the upstream in case the fork developers want to give changes back.
Might the replacement of python with JavaScript be useful in Kodi? JS is all au courant these days.
Implementing a HTML5/CSS ui is... a "fun" thing for a legacy application.
