i have managed to install (partly) MPD on Openelec and have spent some time in the past couple of days to compare the DoP DSD playback of MPD with the PCM conversion method of Kodi. Have done this on 2 seperate setup and in both case the difference is audible, just for the record it is not just the case of high frequency noise Big Grin DoP is so much better...
...but with my limited Linux knowledge it is really a pain to make MPD work properly in this environment.

I have AV receiver with DSD (DSF, DFF) capable 384kHz/32bit DAC. It can also decode FLAC. It is normal for modern devices.

So if KODI would be able to output those formats without PCM convertion I suppose not only me will thank the developers.

i know this is older, but i want to second this thought.  native digital dsf files outside SACD are available and if this can be bitstreamed/passthrough'd the same as Dolby Digital, AC-3, TrueHD etc.

I would love PCM to DSD transcoding, instead: https://sourceforge.net/projects/sacddec...ranscoder/
