That still doesn't answer the obvious question. Why should XBMC resources be diverted to support an interface that is substandard? The whold point is to make a media interface easily controlled by a remote. A web browser does not lend itself to control by a remote (if you doubt this, use Wii's Internet channel).
Some sites are media driven and lend themselves to use through a media interface (youtube). Most do not. For those that do, plugins are the answer. For others, XBMC is not the right interface. If you want to use your XBMC computer for a desktop installation, that is fine. But if you want to use your XBMC computer in that way, why not just use the browser normally? This just seems to be a lot of effort with very little if any appreciable upside.

I don't know where I read it, or even if it is still the case, but there are a number of different websites that will not allow the streaming of video through the existing plugin (I am thinking of specifically justin.tv and atdhe).
I believe that in other media browsers (again, I don't remember which ones or where I read this) they use a modified version of their built in web browser to view the video. So while the web browser isn't really used for web browsing, it is used to view video that require the use of a web browser.
That would be my reasoning for wanting some sort of web browser integration.

This has been covered several times. It actually has several drawbacks (methods of input one of them). Kylo seems not at all interested in being used by a remote and expects a keyboard. I would refer to Launcher plugin for further questions.

I'd the same idea, few days ago.
So lets hope that they'll integrate it.

This has been discussed many times and afaik none of the current developers are pursuing it and aren't really interested in browsing the web via the couch.
What we would like though is to stream media content through flash and html5, that being said its not necessarily true you need a full fledged browser for it.
At any rate, patches welcomed.
Cheers,
Tobias

Well, HTML5 is easiest done through.... Also Linux based, at least, FOSS Flash renderers kinda suck right now.

Will there ever be an integrated or a plugin web browser?
